Community Care Supervising Solicitor
We are recruiting a Supervising Solicitor to play a central role in delivering and developing our legal services.
This is a senior position with responsibility for overseeing casework, supporting and supervising staff, and maintaining high standards of legal advice.
- London/hybrid
- Salary: Up to £44,000 depending on experience
- Deadline: Rolling, early applications encouraged
This role is suited to a solicitor with strong community care experience and an interest in working within an independent, mission-driven organisation.

Volunteering
We offer a small number of structured volunteer roles within a supportive, well-supervised environment. Volunteers receive guidance, training and ongoing support from our team, while gaining direct exposure to frontline advice work.
In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to work that has a tangible impact on the lives of young people and families, and to build practical experience within a focused, mission-driven organisation.
Legal Assistant
Suited to anyone looking to build real legal experience while working directly with clients and contributing to casework that has a tangible impact on people’s lives.
- Taking client calls and triaging
- Assisting solicitors with casework including drafting letters and preparing documents
- Undertaking legal research
- Filing papers at court
- Maintaining accurate data entry on the case management system
- Supporting and advising clients with practical tasks, including accessing community resources
- Following up with clients to confirm attendance at appointments or access to services, and assisting with rebooking where needed
- Providing referral and signposting advice to appropriate services
Social Media Support
Suited to someone who wants to use their creativity and communication skills to grow a meaningful platform and help more young people access their rights.
- Supporting delivery of our communications and social media activity
- Drafting newsletters and wider communications content
- Growing our reach by engaging new audiences and building our follower base
- Managing and updating content across all our social media platforms
- Creating video content for social media
- Producing marketing materials, including leaflets, flyers and infographics
- Updating and maintaining website content
- Supporting wider projects to promote Youth Legal’s work and impact
Operations Assistant
Suited to someone who wants to be at the centre of how a frontline advice service runs, playing a key role in supporting both clients and the wider team.
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the organisation
- Taking incoming enquiries across phone, email and webchat, including answering calls and triaging clients
- Maintaining and updating records on the case management system
- General administrative support, including processing incoming and outgoing post, document management and archiving files
- Assisting with appointment scheduling, coordination and follow-up with clients to confirm attendance or rebook where needed
- Supporting internal processes to ensure the smooth running of Youth Legal for our clients
- Assisting with basic reporting tasks
- Research into opportunities and outreach

Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance of Youth Legal. This includes safeguarding the charity’s assets and ensuring they are used effectively to deliver our charitable purpose.
Trustees work collectively to provide clear oversight and direction. They support and challenge the organisation to ensure it remains well-run, sustainable, and focused on its mission.
As a Trustee, you will:
- Provide strong, strategic governance
- Work in partnership with the Director to support delivery of Youth Legal’s aims
- Act as an advocate and ambassador for the organisation
Trustees must always act in the best interests of Youth Legal, exercising sound judgement and appropriate care. Decisions are made collectively as a Board, with shared responsibility for the organisation’s leadership and direction.
Chair of the Board of Trustees
We are recruiting a Chair of the Board who can bring strong governance experience, provide clear leadership to the Board, and support the organisation in maintaining robust oversight. The Chair will play a key role in ensuring effective decision-making, strengthening Board capability and supporting the Director to deliver the charity’s long-term vision and objectives.
Treasurer
We are recruiting a Treasurer to maintain sound financial oversight and governance of Youth Legal. The Treasurer will support the Board in ensuring financial stability, ensuring appropriate controls and reporting are in place, and that the organisation meets its legal and regulatory obligations. The role will involve reviewing management accounts and budgets, advising on financial planning, and providing constructive challenge and support to the Director on financial matters, helping to ensure informed decision-making as the charity continues to grow.
Trustee
We welcome applications from people who bring lived experience and strong connections to the communities we serve. We are looking for individuals committed to social justice and improving young people’s access to legal advice, who can bring diverse perspectives and contribute to strong, effective governance.
