Food Support
If don't have food at home, Youth Legal can refer you to your local foodbank.
If you are skipping meals, reducing portion sizes, relying on others to eat, or worrying about how you will feed yourself or your family, this is a serious issue — and you are not alone.
Struggling to afford food is a sign that your income is not covering your essential living costs. Food is a basic human need. When someone cannot afford it, this is not a budgeting failure — it is a hardship issue.
If you are in this situation:
Seek support from your local council about emergency assistance schemes.
Ask our debt adviser to complete a full income and expenditure assessment.
Explore eligibility for benefits or grants.
Request a food bank referral where appropriate. It depends on where you live and your postcode.
If you have children, inform the school — additional support may be available.
